Need Help With This Piece

Looking for info as to the company that made it. It's made out of like a red clay brick. Measures approx. 10" x 4 3/4". Made to hang on the wall. It's marked "Amphora" on the back. The design, to me looks like mid century modern, Scandinavian or European possibly? I have never been able to find out anything about this piece or find one similar either for that matter. Anybody?

I believe originally this would have been mortered to fire place trim with others, creating a scene. The wall hang is an add on I think.

Thank you, thank, thank you, Bramblefind! You don't know how many times I've tried to find that mark with no success. At least I got the European and mid century modern right part, lol. Now I know how to properly list this thing, titlewise anyway. Should do better than the dollar or two I gave for it. I should have posted this in the "what is it" forum so I can mark it solved. Thanks again, you're help is and has always been, much appreciated.


Looks like it came from the studio of Rogier Vandeweghe and his wife, whom used this actual mark.

After the construction of a modern villa with associated large workspace, their studio expanded into a company with twenty-one employees. In 1960 Rogier and Myranna gave their company the name 'Amphora'.
