alpine pocket watch

My father gave me an alpine pocket watch with the # 916899 on the inside. Does anyone have an idea of what this watch might be worth and if it can be repaired. I'd like to give it to my son. I believe that my Dad bought this watch when he was stationed in Germany in the mid 1950's.
