I'm new to this hobby and looking to go nugget hunting with anybody that needs a partner. Also looking into sluicing as well. I'm needing help in finding out federal regs for dealing with BLM. Thinking about placing a claim, but I've been told that having a claim isn't what it's all about. Paperwork and such

Welcome from White Plains, New York! I was raised in Arizona, and even went to Camp Geronimo up on the Rim in Payson as a Boy Scout. I'm open to go anywhere. I'm in maricopa. Which is by casa grande. I10 south of Phoenix. Schedule is pretty much wide open since I've started my unexpected early retirement. Lol.
Still checking on possible claim as well. Looks like I've got to go to regional office to verify can claim. I've checked on the LR2000 and shows no claims.
If I'm reading right. Do I need to provide proof of material to start the filing? As well as place claim notice at area. This would be placer claim. I'd found gold there 15 years ago but didn't take it since I didn't have anything to collect it. It was purely by accident. Also, I don't see any game preserves. But at least I can go back and prospect it without trespassing.
So this is an area I'd like to hit, but wouldn't mind having someone to come along with.
