Bali Hunting

I'm off to Bali next week and hopefully will get in some metal detecting.

Does anyone know the rules? Are all beaches public beaches like Hawaii? Is there a problem getting throught customs with a metal detector?

i was there in 02 and saw a couple of people detecting on one beach. at customs saw a couple with a detector and they had no problems. at the money exchange machines the cost is a little high. one thing, be sure to buy a digging tool there and leave it behind when you leave. sharp objects or a no no. be sure to buy a watch there. by the way they are rolex and only cost about $12.00 U.S. Meals at the hotels are high. go to the local eateries, the sea food is out of this world.

one thing bali men on the street stay away from woman on the street. talk to the people at the hotel about local customs.
