For several years I had been researching a robbery that occurred in the early part of the 20th century. Supposedly some thieves held up a farm and stole all the money that was there. Most of the money was in the form of farm tokens with a mixture of other things. I found records of the more or less area where the boat supposedly wrecked against some rocks in the middle of the lake. Honestly all of us thought is was a legend. Since I took up scuba diving again this year I decided I wanted to see if the story was true.
The spot where the records say the wreck is of course are not correct, close, but no cigar.
The finds in the pictures are all the items that I recovered. There are bullets from the war, one 50 cal round, and a mixture of smaller rifle calibers. The farm tokens are heavily encrusted. The coins and the one copper token that says "Pablo" are in ok shape. There is one silver coin that I am waiting to clean to see what it says. There are also a few foreign coins from 1950 that were found there too. The site is also rumored to be a place where people threw religious offerings such as coins in the past.
The rocks here appeared when there was an earthquake in 1880 and I imagine the people thought it was an act of a higher being.
I hope to go back there in a few weeks to recover more. There are signals everywhere.
