For several years I had been researching a robbery that occurred in the early part of the 20th century. Supposedly some thieves held up a farm and stole all the money that was there. Most of the money was in the form of farm tokens with a mixture of other things. I found records of the more or less area where the boat supposedly wrecked against some rocks in the middle of the lake. Honestly all of us thought is was a legend. Since I took up scuba diving again this year I decided I wanted to see if the story was true.

The spot where the records say the wreck is of course are not correct, close, but no cigar.

The finds in the pictures are all the items that I recovered. There are bullets from the war, one 50 cal round, and a mixture of smaller rifle calibers. The farm tokens are heavily encrusted. The coins and the one copper token that says "Pablo" are in ok shape. There is one silver coin that I am waiting to clean to see what it says. There are also a few foreign coins from 1950 that were found there too. The site is also rumored to be a place where people threw religious offerings such as coins in the past.

The rocks here appeared when there was an earthquake in 1880 and I imagine the people thought it was an act of a higher being.

I hope to go back there in a few weeks to recover more. There are signals everywhere.

Re: Look for a legend and someday you might find it....video and pictures

Thanks Tank and everybody else.

Everything has a crust on the surface, I wish it was mud but unfortunately it's not. It might be removed through electrolysis. I tried soaking some of the tokens in lemon juice and after a few minutes there was just dust and lemon juice in the cup. I doubt it would have tasted good :tongue3:. The copper coins are really eaten up. It's hard to believe that even in fresh water metal will oxidize. The silver coin, I hope, should clean up nice. The other 2 coins that are readable are from Nicaragua.

Even if the stuff doesn't clean up, it has been fun just being under water finding something. I'm in it for the hobby.....of course if I make some cash along the way I'll be happy with that too.

One more point, Tank, take a scuba course. You won't regret it and definitely you will love it. The one main thing about scuba diving is that you get to see a world that hardly no one else gets to see or will ever see. I've tried to get my wife into it many times, I keep telling her you just don't know what you're missing.

WOW Super hunt! Mac Davis sang that song.

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way.
I can't wait to look in the mirror

'cos I get better looking each day
To know me is to love me

I must be a hell of a man.
O Lord it's hard to be humble
But I'm doing the best that I can.

Etc. etc. etc.

Wow, if I could get a Hookah system I'd be down there until it ran out of fuel.

I have to set myself up an electrolysis machine. As soon as I do I'll try to see what I have and post some pictures.

Thank you all who posted comments.
