I'd take the $3,000 and buy a deluxe Hookah rig... but that's me. I'm the kinda guy who, if I were on the antiques roadshow and the host said: "this item is worth $10,000" I'd instantly say "give me $9,000 in cash and it's yours". ;D

$3,000 means you can get yourself a brandy new, shiny, Excalibur II, and still have plenty left over. Just tell the wife "they lowered their" offer... $1,000 and this brand new detector...."
