Awesome finds!!! I am still looking for my first "Real" gold necklace or bracelet. Tired of finding Gold plated junk. Maybe I need to go to the beach where the rich folks go, wherever that is. HH, Ralph

Wow!! Congrats! Was this stretched out or balled up? How deep in the water were you, just wandering as a fellow excal user. HH

That is some nice chunky gold! Great find! Were you in the water when you found it or in the wet sand zone?

WoW, nice chain indeed.... Just curious though, shouldnt a gold chain of that size weigh a lot more than 20 gms?
Sure hope all the big wave action predicted for the next week does some moving of the sand, and this time, the right sand (in the surf) to the right place (further out to sea)... Seems this summer that the storms just moved sand off the high beach and deposited it in the shallow surf...

Hi! I was definitely in the water, perhaps 2 or 3 feet deep. It was not balled up but I don't believe it was fully stretched either.

I was actually expecting it to weigh less than 20 grams but this was my first gold necklace find so I did not have much to draw upon.

After I read your message I got a bit worried so I tested one of the middle links in the chain with an acid scratch test. I am happy to say the scratches survived the 10K and 14K acids but dissolved on the 18K acid thereby lending support for the 14K markings. :icon_thumright:

Tony, how was the tone on the necklace, loud, soft, etc, thanks ?

It sounded loud and clear and consisted of the classic Excalibur gold tone.
