May I throw this subject to the wind and let anyone with experience in this area share their thoughts
and ideas with me.
I want to move sand no more than 1 to 2 feet deep off of the reef bottom.
In not more than 4 to 6 feet of water depth.
The unit has to be self contained and not attached to a boat.
Any input will be appreciated.

Wouldn't that hurt the reef? you don't want to do anything that would close the area to your regular detecting.

Yes, a DPV can be used to blow sand from a spot. I've never done it, but I've seen it done. I don't know if 1 - 2 feet is realistic though, that would probably require an air lift or dredge.
