**UPDATE...appraisal is in. See below

*Update...Diamonds tested real and estimated to be 2 to 3 carats!!!!

I headed down to the coast to take advantage of the erosion and low tide. I hit a solid signal and out popped this 21.4 gram 18KT Ring with 52 Diamonds! I could not believe my eyes. I also got two more rings, including a carbide wedding band and stainless US Army Field Artillery ring. Bunch of clad and a musket ball.

I found a similar ring on Ebay that retails for $5995.00. The ebay one has 4 fewer diamonds and it also claims they weigh 3 carats. It also weighs slightly more in gold. I think I better get the ring professionally appraised as it appears the carat weight may be more than I was told. The jewelry store that told me 2.1 carats only estimated and recommended I have a Jeweler look at it which I didn't have time for. Stay tuned!

Re: MONSTER GOLD WITH ICE!! Thank you Irene *update: diamonds are real...2.1 carats!

Here are some close up photos of the ring. These retail for about $6000 and based on what I can tell should be worth about $1500-$2500. Let me just say the Etrac works great at the beach in dry and wet sand. BTW...this is my 9 gold item of the year. the MXT to Etrac ratio is now 3 to 6. The Etrac can get the big gold but the MXT gets the small gold. Thank you all for your comments and banner votes. It has always been my dream to see one of my finds on the banner but we shall see.

Re: MONSTER GOLD WITH ICE!! *UPDATE: diamonds are real..2-3 carats & 21.4g 18KT Gold

Check this out. I found a slightly similar ring on ebay for $5995. Claims the carat weight is 3 carats although the gold weight is 5.6g more than mine. My ring has 4 additional diamonds on the side. I was also told the "invisible" set diamonds is very difficult to do and each diamond is hand mounted and holds the other diamonds in place. A very complicated setting. I am heading to the jeweler this weekend to get it appraised.

I just returned from the Jeweler. They said the ring was 3.5 carats and were identical to the stones to the one on ebay! They offered me $650 for the gold and $1000 for the diamonds or $1650 for the ring. I figure the retail value is double this amount. I am pleased. I am going to keep it but may at some point take the diamonds and gold and make a very nice piece of jewelry for my wife and daughter. Here is the funny thing, there was a line of people selling gold at the store again. I figured this would be a good place to Eye spy some finds so I decided to scan the floors and sidewalk outside the store and low and behold scored a 14KT ear ring back. WTG me! FYI....My other three gold rings I found this month tested good for diamonds and one sapphire. Small stones but great to confirm they are real. Thank you all and happy hunting.
