lots of eager village planners slapping the parking meters in and triraising many fees.

costs you big bux to visit the beach.

i have been informally surveying folks and many say they are limiting

their stay. many are skipping fine dining. and making their hotel a bigger

part of their trip. equals swimming and sunning at the hotel pool

insteada the beach. wise fools.these planners

the way to really get people to spend isto make them feel great andlike

there gettin a bargain.

plenny free parkin and ez on the minor traffic offenses for the outa staters.

easily triple the county take thru the taxes in the stores and shops.

i myself have eaten almost all meals in my room

and plan on leaving earlier than planned due to unfriendlyatmosphRE.

I KNOW NO ONE WILL MISS ME BUT HOWBOUT MY

2000 BIG ONES GOING HOME WITH ME.

This makes swimming in the hotel pool even better since there are no dead fish. The shops are the ones that are gonna suffer.

I use to say this same thing about areas that hosted sporting events....but people keep going and spending. The same can be said about Disney, etc. If people want to go they'll keep spending....even if they have to charge it. Beaches are always still crowded, beach vendors are still making money, and there's no empty storefronts in the small beachside strip shops. Go figure. :dontknow:

I know where I got the idea from...it was the first line in your OP lots of eager village planners slapping the parking meters in and triraising many fees.

One thing we are not short of here in Florida is Tourist. What we do have is too many people wanting to come down to hunt our beaches then complain when they find the beaches are hunted to death. If you think it's expensive to visit....you should try living here full time.

parking in OC, on the side streets runs about 12 dollars for 8 hours, the inlet parking will rob you Blind..2.50 a hour, during the summer months...but if you know the area, the secondary streets have free parking you will have to walk several blocks, you just have to be there early...or you can go the route of OBN..free parking from 1 am to 9 am...any side streets..Hunt the early morning Lowtide..leave, catch a few winks inland at walmart, then hit the evening Lowtide, live like a pirate...take there gold and leave.....

Years ago Miami Beach had meters that had to be fed 24/7. No free times. The cops made a job out of just walking and writing. Many tourists from places that did not do this were smacked with tickets.
