Todays find... a what's it

Decided to set a little longer with the wife today and enjoy my coffee. When i hit the beach the tide was already coming in. The sand at the surf was soft and deeper than normal from being pushed in. But as i moved out into the water i got to some hard pan. The water was pushing so fast south i could hardly set the scoop ..... and ive got a HEAVY scoop. I had to turn my back North and lean just to keep my feet from slipping. I was noticing a lot more targets..... mostly coins and the usual floaters. I picked this whats it up..... it appears to have been a coin that someone made a necklace out of by adding a loop. The coin does test positive for silver. Anyone know what ive got here?

My research say it could be a half reale around mid 1600's .... like you said possibly from Mel Fishers museum even. The things we find lol.
