Hunted a stretch of beach in OCNJ down around the boardwalk area. This beach was just replinished. Whew, has this beach changed! The biggest change - the amount of can slaw on the beach. Can slaw is a problem with all NJ replinished beaches, but the Army Corp of Engineers really out did themselves on this one!

The beach now extends 200 to 300 feet further east. Probably 10 to 12 feet of new sand. Much of it filled with years worth of degrading steel and aluminum metal bits. Most frustrating are the really small dark pieces that ring up with a solid quarter tone. These pieces are tiny and are almost impossible to see amongst the sand and shells.

It is no secret this stretch has always been a good place to hunt. If for nothing else, plenty of clad. But now, for the coming weeks, will be more of a challenge until mother nature takes care of business.

I spend a lot of time in SW FL - can slaw there too! Things are better up the coast a ways.

The OC beach is problematic in that it's a solid hunting beach. Lots of hunters, everybody finds. The slaw really slows things down because you can't discriminate around it. Ya gotta dig! eventually mother nature will solve the problem, but for anyone hunting right now, it's a long day.
