allways use high disc so you do not have to dig a lot of trash!

allways pass on nulls, they are just bottlecaps, pieces of iron and bobbypins.

allways swing very quickly and cover as much ground as possible in order to beat the competition.

allways wait until 5 mins before lowtide or hunt only at hightide.

only hunt on Monday morning in order to get what was lost over the weekend.

there you go, glad I could help!:laughing7:

No need to bring along extra batteries.....most likely there will be other detectorists out there who have extras to loan to you.......unless they are depending on other detectorists to loan them batteries.

hey pat, im still standing out here. got my camo on, squirted myself down with sea salt, set out a couple scent pads,.........not getting anything but im patient!!!!!:icon_scratch:

When you get to your location, pick the best spot, and just stand there.
In that one (best) spot, while being still and quiet,
all the gold will come to you.

Steel toed shoes are a must have.... and they are cheap too. If its not marked 24K.... its not worth keeping. Ive also found if you are getting to much EMI.... disconnect that coil from the box.... it really runs much smoother.

Always take a friend to your secret spots it allows you to cover more ground and find more stuff so at the end of the hunt you split finds equally

Swing your coil at least 8 inches above the ground so you don't scratch the coil cover.
When water hunting leave all unneccessary ballast like a scoop or mask and snorkel at home. No need for a finds pouch either.

When you see another hunter on the beach, especially one that appears to be digging targets - or one that is seriously involved in a pattern hunt, go over and hunt right next to them, or just in front of him. This is a great way to meet and make new friends in the field.

Follow other hunter closely and dig holes for no good reason.... it impresses them and they soon leave. The more holes you dig behind them the more impressed they are. Only dig pennies.... gives you something to do cleaning them up when you get home... not only that but you get to keep half them.

You know what I find to work too, when you've gridded an area, walk backwards back over it and you'll get the stuff you missed.

Except for your timing of the tides and only hunting on Monday morning I have done surprisingly well doing what you recommend. j
I like to pick up the shallow targets first, with lower volume, so that I able the hear the whisper targets when I go back and grid search areas which I have found old and heavier targets on such as lead sinkers at a much slower pace.
