This has happened at least once every time I am at the beach. Is this just a South FloriDUH phenomenon? Okay here goes- i am walking down the beach swinging my MD. It is still early, the beach isn't crowded but you have the early morning joggers, walkers, and sea shell hunters. I am walking slow and swinging my MD from side to side, ya know how we do it ;), and a person will almost walk right into you! Or they walk so close that you hit them with your MD!! I know for a fact that these brain dead people see me coming a mile away too. If this only happened a few times i would just shrug it off but it has happened a lot. I have even had to say something to a few people because it royally pisses me off!

It happened to me on Tuesday. Lady came from behind and just missed my shoulder while walking by (not jogging)

Luckily my coil was on the other side of the sweeping or she would have stepped on it.

There wasn't another person within 100 feet.

Rude, inconsiderate or maybe just plain aggressive. She probably felt the path she was walking was
hers and she was going to take it.

Later while driving I could have sworn she cut me off changing lanes!

I always try staying away from people
I know a few old timers that go right thru crowds in the water and have hit people
I don't want to be asked to leave cause of something like that
but Ive had people say I should not be allowed to do what Im doing and they think I cant hear them with headphones
on and will walk in front of me on purpose - I even had some go out of there way to stand right in front of me
Im not shy - I will usually insult them in some manner -IF - I know they are doing it on purpose
usually I will hear them say to family or friends "watch this"
Ive gone so far to tell a guy - "your gonna look funny walking down the beach with my scoop sticking out your ass"
but this was because he kept screwing with me - tried to step on my coil too
Ive had people hit me with balls on purpose - once again - "watch this" is heard and I usually will grab it and throw it out in deep water as far as I can
I really do stay clear of people and will move on if a bunch jump in around me - but I don't take crap from idiots

I always avoid the crowds. That's what ticked me off so much. Nobody on the beach aaaaand.. theres a shoulder bump from behind. I'm a big young guy too. I'm happy to say it hasn't happened lately so I'm glad about that. The majority of the people I come across are nice and friendly and usually curious.

Trent67 ok it happened to me a couple of days ago...minding my own business, swingin' down the beach, I almost hit this guy in the leg....He came up from behind I had no idea he was even there. I've been following your thread for a week, it's gone to a lot of funny places. That's the first time it's ever happened to me and I had to laugh, immediately thought of your thread.
Don't let them get to ya! Forgot to mention VERY COOL Plat Ring you found.

Hey thanks For sharing Rich! I don't let it get to me and it doesn't happen very often. I just had a stretch of days where it happened and I came here to vent to my fellow brothers and sista metal detectorist, lol. Unfortunately, some crusty tnet posters wanted to make it my fault, lol. It is all good in the hood. That Platinum ring will probably be the best thing I ever find. So lucky! Take care Rich and find some good stuff!!

On another note. Went too Deerfield Beach yesterday, and even at 6pm it was packed with people. Surfers for autism event. So I choose an area less populated, but was a little tuff, then a few kids come up all very interested. The usual "what are looking for?" As usual "I say treasure!" Parents are apologizing, I then I starting asking them if they would like to listen? Put the headphones on them and hit a few targets. Man did they all love it and several of the parents thanked me! Sometimes we need to educate and make are hobby a little acceptable:)

Trent67- I know what the problem is! You forgot to turn off your people magnet! Just switch that off and the mindless masses won't be drawn to you! The pesky ones who throw stuff is another story! They throw pennies at me, so I yell "make it hundred dollar bills you cheap -------!" They usually laugh and move on!
Can't let it get to you, stress kills!

I overlook what the kids say and do but if adults are asses I hurt their feelings...Ive left a few standing there with a blank look on their faces and suddenly speechless.

I hunt anywhere on the beach I want, wet; dry or in the water... I don't care how many people are on the beach, in fact the more there are the more chances of fresh drops...

Guess what I do for a living: This has provided me a lot of stress reduction. From Wikki

It is not the event, being bumped into, but your understanding of the event, jerk did that on purpose. In REBT, clients usually learn and begin to apply this premise by learning the A-B-C-model of psychological disturbance and change. The A-B-C model states that it normally is not merely an A, adversity (or activating event) that contributes to disturbed and dysfunctional emotional and behavioral Cs, consequences, but also what people B, believe about the A, adversity. A, adversity can be either an external situation or a thought or other kind of internal event, and it can refer to an event in the past, present, or future.[13] from WIKKI

and thus the consequence C Im pissed.
