Hoping someone can clarify not sure if private land like a campground would make a difference trying to plan my vacation soon but can't seem to find a clear answer online.

Anything State or Fed is a No No ! Don't ask me how I know.:icon_scratch:

This is a myth. While there are *some* state's parks that dis-allow md'ing in their state parks, it's not accurate to say "all state parks". And same for federal. This may be true for national parks (historic sensitive monuments, etc..), but there are other forms of federal land with no such restriction. In fact, OUTRIGHT express allowances. NFS, and BLM are examples of that.

So the old addage that all fed and state lands are off-limits, is not true.

On any given day when I am in Myrtle I look out on my balcony and will see probably a dozen people detecting, occasionally in the water but mostly dry sand.

I have been out there dozens of times without ever being questioned by the beach patrol. One time I was on the sand access road and did not hear the
police truck come up from behind of me. Really startled me......the officer apologized for that as he drove by.

So bring your detector.....just do not detect within a half mile of 25 block South as that is my territory! 8-)

Tcornel, well you know what that means don't you ? Most people would interpret this sort of thing by concluding that .... therefore .... it must not be a problem. RIGHT? But on the contrary: It merely means you didn't ask enough desk-bound bored pencil-pushers and archies: "Can I?". Go back, do that, higher and higher up the chain of command, and sure enough, you can find someone to morph something to result in a "no".

Ok, now hurry. Go do the right thing ! :tongue3:

Neo, you may not be married but you can detect for your lost property if questioned. Doubt if you would get a ticket. Just cover your holes well. We the People.JPG
