Freak storm blew in with rare lightning strikes. Still a missing swimmer somewhere in the water. I'll take the threat of storms a bit more seriously going forward.

This saddens me for the people that were killed or hurt!
I have been out surfing when a small storm moves in and have always thought it was safe
to be in the water!
What about metal detecting? Can one be struck by lightning because you're swinging a detector?

Not only swinging a detector, but with a SS scoop on your shoulder! Ive been out a couple times, in a lightning storm, a bit concerned, but didnt think there was much chance of getting hit. Will have to re-think my plan!
