Hi again

Another beautiful morning at the beach low tide

Met another fellow detectorist; it was a pleasure to meet and talk with Jeff .

Thank you , Jeff for the offer of soda and a hot dog at your club's picnic. That was a very kind gesture.

Hunted 2 1/2 hours at wet sand slope and dryer high tide line.

After recovering about $1.50 in clads, I got a loud medium high erratic signal, and in first scoop found a 14 K /26" chain attached to a silver nameplate with a small diamond ( tested positive ).

After the drought that I had been experiencing for the past couple of weeks, I was pleased to find this treasure.

About 5 minutes, I heard a nice high signal, and in the scoop a pretty silver cross shows itself.

Had to get home to make lunch, so the hunting was cut short.

Here's some pics

As always, thank you for looking at my finds

Lorraine

Thanks RustyGunn
I really want to separate the gold chain from the silver nameplate, but am unable to do so; I can't get either side to slide out of the loops on either side of the nameplate.

Suppose I'll have to take it to the jeweler to have it done; would like to know the weight of the chain.

If this can be done, I'll post the results.( weight of chain)

Lorraine

Fantastic hunt, Lorraine, The Drought is definitely over. Great chain and cross.HH

WTG Lorraine. Beautiful silver cross and gold chain. Glad you got out and found some treasure and met another detector. I always like meeting other people in our hobby. Still hoping I can get out tomorrow.

Yes, I tested it with the Mizer acid test kit: 14K

The width of the links on this "mariner" style chain is 3mm; I'm guessing the weight to be somewhere around 10-12 gms, but I will have this confirmed by a jeweler. I did my own measuring of the width in cm..0.3 cm and then converted it, but I'm no expert on these things so I could have miscalculated.

Good to hear. It looks very similar to one I had that was fake. Just a couple weeks ago a guy on here found a bracelet That was the same as my necklace. It was fake also.
