If lead were gold I'd be rich.

A few hours of detecting at low tide on a Cape Cod beach yesterday yielded about two pounds of lead and some corroded coins. Does anyone know how to turn lead into gold? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1419109737.298434.jpg

You might be surprised how much those big surf fishing sinkers cost new. Check 'em out at your local tackle shop. Save up a small bucket full, put them on craigslist, and turn them into green!!

Sinkers are typically pure lead. They make excellent muzzleloader bullets, especially if you are casting just round balls for flintlock or classic caplocks. If you wanted to cast modern bullets for handguns, you can add a little tin or antimony and have a harder bullet, which is more desirable for smokeless powder rounds.

I've made a deal with a jeweler that I will give him all my lead that I find and he will do some repair work for me...He is kind of an Alchemist turning lead into gold.

What lead he can not transform into gold his son makes bigger and better fishing weights and jigs. It works for me!

I will mail you the lead that I found. You pay the postage. LOL

Ya gotta dig it, because it sounds so nice. I hate the small split shot the most, because it falls through the scoop.

Thanks for all the tips. Maybe I will turn that lead into a little gold. I have about fifty pounds of those sinkers that I have found over the past couple of years.
