The 920i is 5x9x13.5 while the 720i is 6x7x14.
Both are similar in design and shape.

The major difference being the 920 is shallower by an inch, 2" wider and 0.5" shorter than the 720i.

What is the major advantage then of the 920 over the 720 that would warrant replacing the 720 at a hefty investment? Is it really that much better because of the additional 2" of width in the bite do you think?

Also, whats the weight difference? Looks like the reenforcement and width may even add weight. What size hole we looking at?

The 920 is 2.9 lbs while the 720 is 2.85...a wash. The holes currently on the 920 are all 1/2" but they are coming out with a combination 1/2 and 1/4 in the near future.

The only thing I would change about my 720 is to make it an inch wider...every now and then I barely miss my target to the side...the 9 inch wide 920 might be the perfect scoop for me...do they take trade ins?

Now its getting interesting Max with the Hybread having 1/4 holes in the back. Those 1/2" holes serve the purpose well here in Fl..... because if we are in the shells bigger holes really dont make that much difference. I needed the smaller holes for those tiny targets that tend to slip away. Im one who likes to see what they were even if they are bits of brace jackets. Ive got the tech somewhat down .... but it can be time consuming slowly lifting that bucket. I can live with the length, weight and price. Does Chuck charge for shipping too?

Good looking scoop... Cool design... but I would destroy that within 6 months.
Reinforcements look weak... mesh looks good.

Those scoops are tougher than you think...nothing weak about them.

I just bought the 90 degree tube version 720i. I was concerned about it being weaker than the u-bolt version. I used it heavily in hard packed sand for 3 days and found it to be very tough! It's also lighter than the T-Rex even though the Stealth is bigger. Also noticed that digging the deeper 15-20" holes are easier with the 45 deg back on bottom of stealth basket over the T-Rex.

I love the narrow shape of the 720i. I can get that point right on my target and have to dig/move less sand.
As always IMHO!

Unfortunately neither the 720i nor the 920i were available as they had not been designed, when I purchased my scoops. If they were available, I would of purchased the 920i as I have difficulty in efficiently retrieving targets when using a 10" or larger diameter DD search coil. When I am in the zone I average two to three retrival attempts when using a nine inch wide basket and three to five retrieval attempts with a 7 inch wide basket, plus it is slower as requires greater concentration.

If I hunted an area where valuable targets have been found, I would purchase the more expensive wider basket and keep the other basket as back up and use it when advantagious: Digging between rocks, wave surges / stonger current(s) , in between ridges underwater, etc.

I would definitely purchase the hybrid version of either scoop to more efficiently retrieve smaller targets
which would fall through the larger 1/2 inch diameter holes.

I broke my TRex in wet sand. NO JOKE. Best advice on ANY scoop is to not take full bites. Cut the dig depth in half and save the scoop. TRex said to send it back (not believing me during the whole phone conversation). It would of taken a great deal of time to get it back ASSUMING they'd warranty it. Welds are petite at best. Material is stout but the welds are lacking. As you can see in the pic they had no penetration. I'd certainly/and may go with the 720i very shortly as a back up to my now locally rewelded TRex 9.5 View attachment 1198904
View attachment 1198905 You can see in the second pic how far down in the wet I went when it let go. No rocks what-so-ever. I'm assuming it fatigues when you drop it on the concrete to knock off the sand before throwing it in the car.
