I have a request for help from someone in the Ponte Vedra , Fl area to recover a ring that was dropped in 10 feet of water during a wedding off a dock. The groom was putting it on his bride's finger and it fell and rolled off the dock a few months or weeks ago. The lady who asked for help is my physician's assistant and it is a member of her immediate family. She is trying to get permission from the resort manager and it is in fresh water and she wants to know how much someone would charge to recover this ring. I explained if someone had to put on scuba gear, there would probably be some time of charge for their time and equipment. If someone was local or close by and could recover this ring for a nominal fee it would be fantastic. Thanks & God bless.
I will try and check this post Saturday at the library and if not, next Monday. Thanks again for any help with this ring recovery.

Check out the links in the "Florida" forums Florida and hopefully you will find someone that is local to the area or nearby that can help! You might even try the "Add-Our Club" forum Add Our Club! as well. If you can't find any help, a dip net outfitted for shrimp (small mesh) on a long pole might work. You will probably bring up a lot of muck and trash as Boat Docks are notorious for such things but if you can ever get the dip net under the ring when scooping, you should be able to retrieve it. I used one on a 14 foot pole to catch shrimp (when the were running) off the White Street Pier in Key West back in the 80's and usually brought one to two 5 gallon buckets full of shrimp home. I also use to catch 2 to 4 dozen or more Blue Crabs most nights I was out with the same dip net.

Good luck!

Frank

I hope this link is allowed. I'm 2 hours away but do come down that way once or twice a month and have diving equipment and detector. I would be glad to recover it for just a handshake.

I'd love to join the hunt but that is way too far for me.
Best of luck. Let us know if it's ever recovered!

Yes fongu, I thought maybe you were down there near pointe verde and just didn't have dive gear. It shouldn't take very long to recover once I wade through all the turtles and gators! Lol. I hope it's pretty cool that day since it slows them down a bit.

Well I gave it my all for 2 hours. Zero visibility, 12+ inches of muck and under a larger dock so there is no light in the zero vis condition. I did manage a dime and a zincoln, but a no go on the ring itself.

I'm hitting the beach between now and 5-6pm (low tide @3) I'll be the one with the big 12" yellow coil! Probably go from pier south and back up

Good luck Fletch88. Did she tell you where they lost it? I think it was at the end of the dock or pier where they dropped it. Shafergdady1, I sent her your contact info, between both of you it should be found soon. Thanks for all your help.

Fletch88 is a better man than me. Ive never hunted in more challenging conditions. If the ring is still there its between the copper power lines and 500+ targets under that dock. Without a hookah setup so you can spend 4-6 hours searching and a miracle it will stay hidden underwater in the 1inch of visibility.

Did you look too? Those were the worst conditions I've ever even swam in much less attempting to find a needle in a haystack in! I really gave it my all but only managed to dig a zinc penny and s dime out of the 12" of muck under that dock. I have been diving in lakes, rivers and oceans since the mid 80's and never encountered as bad of conditions as this "lagoon"!
