OK, been a long and hard fight but the Excal did come home and seems to be functioning properly. Will put it to some test this nest week in hope that it is indeed fixed.

Actually it was a machine out of warranty. It had been problematic since nearly new. I had it repaired 3 times but it never was right. I had recently spoke with Minelabs and they asked me to send it back for another try.

They were very nice folks this time around. I will have more to say after some good serious testing.

Sorry to hear you had problems with the Minelab. I own a CZ-20 that had trouble at this one site where it would be erratic or unstable all the time. Turns out the State Police post nearby interfered with a lot of Fisher detectors in the area. Those that had a freq. shift knob could change to a setting that worked.

I want to get a Excal myself but am waiting to see what new comes out.
