YEAH! WAY TO GO!! If you don't wanna lose the right to MD the beach due to holes being left behind, then BASH the folks diggin' the holes! Works every time!! :laughing7:

...Sometimes I wonder what's gonna do mankind in first - politicians/lawyers, nuclear war, or our own stupidity.

As I read it, the MDer saw someone digging holes and not filling them in. So he approached and tried to get the youngster to fill inhis large hole. Apparently the youngster refused (youngsters being what they are and all :tongue3:), so the MDer, out of options, does what any good, law-abiding maniac would do and hits the youngster upside the head with his own shovel.

Sorry, but no hole in the sand is worth that. I can see how if it's above the waterline how it might cause problems for detectorists. It "might" even be enough to get detecting banned from the beach, whether the digger had a MD or not.

Note that it doesn't say either guy was a detectorist.

I don't see any connection to metal detecting either......except that if you don't fill your holes, you might get hit upside your head by some knucklehead upset beyond reason. Keep and ear and an eye out!

For sure.....have tripped into these cavernous holes before,,,,,but the architects are "too cute" and all is well for them......

I also fill my holes,,,,but some I see on the beach would take a bull-dozer to fill back..:dontknow:

Hi; I'm glad the guy whacked him. Just not with a shovel. Swing the wrong way and he could have been killed. Me, I see someone doing that, and I have, I go talk to them NICELY, if that don't work I take pictures of them in action. After I've got a few pics I call 911 and Report the vermin. I've done it 4 times. I'll do it again. It's amazing how nice these Morons become when the cops show up. :BangHead: There is NO EXCUSE for that type of behavior. I don't care who you are, PERIOD. You won't work with me ?? Then you will with a Judge. I promise. !! PEACE:RONB :occasion14:

Sounds like they were both in the wrong. The young guy for digging the hole and leaving it and having an attitude and the older guy for not just calling the cops and losing his temper. Some people can get under my skin so bad I want to commit mayhem on them and give them an attitude adjustment, but we have to show restraint, even when it's the hardest thing in the world to do. Instead of hitting the younger man with his own shovel, I would have just filled in the hole. I saw no mention of metal detecting, but I have met some loose cannons swinging a coil and once I learned they were not into representing our hobby, I stayed clear of them.
