Now you just need to find out where those nails are coming from.

That may happen one day but the only thing is the weight of them. With the Sea Hunter we have put the control unit on the belt and they are really nice to use and only weigh 2-3 lb instead of 5.

I agree with you the weight takes its toll after awhile...sooo..I took the pod off the shaft and made it a chest mount, so now I can detect for hours..HH

Went out again last night and found a few pennies and a padlock and a few bits of quality rust but still no gold.

You need to find a successful hunting partner to show you the ropes. Either you're on a dead beach or not using the correct technique.

I think this could be a bit of a dead beach and there are to many peasant's here who have got no gold to loose. We dig every beep what else can you do.

You could be right, this Island I live on aint very big and it only has about 400 yards of beach and the actual sand is no more than 50 yards wide. It does really get packed out in summer so I guess we will find something eventually. Going out for a couple of hours tomorrow, maybe that will be the one.

Yes absolutely! Excalibur and Sovereigns disc out iron even at lowest discrimination setting. It makes detecting so much more pleasurable. You will never dig anymore small rusty nails unless you suspect there is a good target underneath it!

Paul, a Pi machine is great as a backup or if you just get bored using the Excalibur and want to use on occasion. You will think the Excalibur is worth 10 times what it costs after you use it coming from a Pi machine. I bought a Sand Shark (Pi machine ) as my first beach unit and couldn't believe how much more fun it was to hunt after trying the Excalibur.

The Excal is a heavy machine much like the SeaHunter. The balance of the stock shaft that it comes with the excal sucks very badly unless you are in the water. You will want a straight shaft with either a rear mount or over/under mount configuration.

Thanks a lot Fletch that really is a big help, the Seahunter is a great MD but maybe not on my local beach that has to much iron on it. I will be bored if I just keep finding rusty metal all the time even if it is good quality rust lol. Just got to decide if I want to shell out another £1200 and maybe sell the Seahunter.

If I do this at least I can use it on land as well, how well does it work on land?
