So there's so much back and forth on this it always is in the back of my mind. I'm in the u.s.a. On the west coast and mainly detect the beach. Lots of black sand and low suggested sensitivity, especially in the winter months when's sands moving and eroding. Just kinda seein what other people are doing. Especially any Oregon, California people, please weigh in! Thanks!

No no one is going to honestly answer what their doing with the ctx that isn't already known. It's a fairly simple machine just go out and play with it. Read books. Or sell it.

Auto +3 seems to work at most places here in SoCal. Sometimes you have to turn it down a notch or two in nasty black sand to get it stable, but, not often. Just work it a little slower and keep the coil at an even height and not bump the sand.

DO NOT use Ground Balance. Turn it off. Use Noise Cancel every hour or so to keep your 3030 running smooth...GL and SH

Thanks guys, just looking for input from others. I've only enabled it when detecting river banks around here, suggested sensitivity 3 or 4. Can really only get down a few inches In that stuff.

Sounds like it's time to invest in pulse induction.

Yep. In a heavy mineralized environment like that I would definitely have a PI, especially if its fairly clean.
