    Florida Beach Detecting.

Moved full time to Lakeland, Fl. and would like to get together with someone to beach detect with to learn the ropes, in and out the water. I use a AT Pro with waterproof headphones. Willing to drive most anywhere. So if you could use a day or weekend partner, drop me a msg. Thanks. Bill

I live in Lutz but work in Lakeland and detect Only the west coast beaches. My first recommendation is to not to try to detect any where near the salt water with the AT pro but you can detect the dry sand with it all day long with good results. You may want to consider a new or used Saltwater detector like the Minelab Excalibur or Equinox 600 or 800 or something made for that purpose for the wet sand or in the saltwater.

Look up Phil Myers at Myers Metal Detectors Tampa. Tell him I sent you, and he'll hook you up with a local. He's having his 1st Annual Thanksgiving Hunt, Saturday November 10 on Daytona Beach.

I have both the AT Pro and an Equinox 600. I've found that the AT Pro can be a bit chatty near wet beach sand or in the water. You need to adjust the ground-balancing whenever you change your search location between dry sand, wet sand, and in the water itself. But it certainly works on the east coast beaches. I very much prefer the Equinox for beach hunting, though, as its presets for the beach environment are superb.

Went fresh water detecting today with Ron Ward. Thank you Ron. Had no problems with my AT Pro on dry sand, wet sand or in the water. Had some issues at first, then noticed my sensitivity was set at max. Cranked it back down, then all was OK. Found 10 coins, and the standard trash. In all enjoyed my first water detecting in Fl.
