Seems like the threads regarding detecting in the islands are from a few years ago.

Any current updates that would be beneficial to me during my cruise in 10/20?

A friend of mine went recently and actually tried to get a permit. She was told by authorities in charge that you don't need one for beach hunting. No problems!!
