    Here is a link...

US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 11-1, Clearwater FL

On course completetion you will receive a CGS card that certifies you have completed and passed the course,,,

and when you are pulled over out there... which you will be...

They will favor at least that part.

    Just so you know.

Coast Guard DO NOT like jet skiers.

So do yourself a favor and get that card BUT not just for that reason...

you will be surprised how much you will learn and how much there is to know.

    PS...

Stay clear off limit areas... especially protected areas... they will arrest you... and having a metal detector is NOT going to help you at all.

Two Marylanders died this past week close to shore. Not a good idea all by yourself with no one on the beaches to watch.

Ron... I see you visited yesterday... but left no comments / responses.

Perhaps you had no time to respond or did not like the responses I or others left for you.

Please know that nothing but good advice was intended.

Know that you are not the first one who had a "good idea" and went gung ho buying stuff to only realize it may actually could be a "bad idea".

The intention was for you to think this through and clearly with the REALITY of what you are about to embark on.

The ocean... in all forms... shallow and deep... large or small... can and will "swallow you"... in a split second if not respected on all levels.

Beings I have grown up in... on... around Florida waters my entire life I am quite familiar with her and her mysteries offshore.

Once you leave the security of shores... you are vulnerable... and it can be and IS dangerous and should never be taken for granted.

Mother nature can be a real biatch when she wants.

I am not trying to scare you out of your goals and dreams...

I am just trying to kick in gear that mentality that will help you respect it and make you think in advance and keep you safer.

Casper msg'd me concerning your endeavor and said he has met you and you are a "good guy".

So I am taking some time to "throw you some bones to chew on".

    That is all.

Any questions ... please just ask.

Ive notice some beaches like Siesta Key now have pointed their webcams at the sky to prevent people from seeing the beach walkers and runners. Apparently the crowds were growing thinking the beaches are OPEN if you can find a parking spot. Personally .... i like to detect .... but im choosing ME over detecting. Im going to use the excuse .... well others are out there doing it. You have a lifetime to detect...... and its not like there are people laying around on the beach. Everyone seems to want to think they are going to get an advantage. I hunt as much as anyone and LIKE being out of the house..... but i think more about my family.... and less about me right now.

If not... I suggest you attend the Coast Guard school before your endeavors.

The water on a beach is one thing... going offshore to areas is a WHOLE other thing.

I know its sounds easy to just "hop a watercraft and head out to new places"...

but there are some logistics AND laws that you should be aware of.

Not to mention... when out in the water there is always an inherent danger ever present even to the experienced.

MAny factors exist out there... from weather to collisions with everything from other boats to underwater debri's.

Knowledge is key to being a safe boater... and the CGS is a small class that will teach you the basicsand the "rules of the water roads"... and I highly recommend it.

    For one...

Do you know that you MUST leave a "detailed plan" in your windshield of your vehicle before embarking alone ?

when alone things can be very "tricky".

    Please take heed.

Well then... At least you have some experience with being on the water.

But a jet ski is a far cry from a boat

    Best of luck.

I thought metal detecting was illegal in the water unless you had a lease or sub lease.
