"Treasure hidden in Rock"

:icon_jokercolor:
It was a so, so hum drum day but found some old stuff. Found a 1946 nickel, a 1942 wheaty
and a 1940 liberty dime. Not bad! Then saw this gold chain wash up in front of me, that I can handle.
The mercury dime was inside a black coal gummy like substance that I had to knock with a hammer
to break it up. I knew by the sound it was silver. I had just watched someone dig it up and toss back
in the tidal pool. Silly people who don't pick up their trash , shame-shame!
Now my husband dug up a ROLEX, still ticking. He was so excited to find out who won the watch,
he put the cart before the horse. There were three winners to this watch in 1992 and it would be worth $13,000.00
if it WERE REAL!!!!! Oh well, I hope this next storm delivers some treasures. I do so
like beach hunting but I think the season is over for people losing stuff. But they do say the ocean
giveth and taketh away. (I'm all for giving!) LOL!

I have found several things inside rocks at the beach. If it makes a signal I put it in my pocket and take it home for an inspection.

I learned the hard way, don't get rid of it until you know what it is, do not assume its junk.

I now drag home so much crap that my hubby thinks I lost it. 99% has turned out to be trash, but I did find a glob that turned out to be melted down silver.

Cool finds. I love beach hunting, it is my new addection... ;D

That's why I take home all my finds, I found an old military button in Vero Beach like that in a big clump of material.

Good luck on your next hunt.

That's EXACTLY how I found my very first Mercury dime!
Embedded in a piece of coal-like rock, on Bethany Beach in Delaware, after a storm.
I don't hunt beaches regularly anymore. (I'm in PA.)
But I did lots of beach hunting when I first got into the hobby.
Actually, it's the ONLY silver coin I've EVER found on a beach.
Congrats on the Merc!

Re: "Treasure hidden in Rock"

Lorrie, congrats on the finds! The east coast beaches are, and have been getting beat up with large surf for the last few days, so this weekend should be very good for some beach hunting. My weekend starts today...
