Which brings us back to the original premise of this thread-
Was the candle worth the game?

It has been made obvious by several researchers over the years that there exists NO collaborating evidence that anything in the Beale Papers narrative story occurred outside of that 1885 pamphlet's pages,..the exception being the "borrowed" extended family experiences incorporated into the storyline by Ward.
The total lack of any outside of the dime novel pamphlet collaborating documentation that the Beale's perilous adventure EVER OCCURED, and most was sprung from the imagination of the "unknown author", makes the existence of the treasure suspect, as well as the validity of the C1 & C3 containing an actual solution.

Just as no one has been able to disprove the Ward/Risqué extended family influences placed throughout the Beale Papers, or the purposeful discrepancies within that would have been obvious to 1885 Lynchburg, no one has ever been able to prove that anything as depicted in the pamphlet's narrative as the Beale perilous adventure treasure story... yet many continue to claim they solved the ciphers and KNOW the location of Beale's treasure vault.

...and there have been many who have, or have tried to profit from Ward's 1885 dive novel pamphlet with claims of cipher solution and treasure vault location, or with books that expand the Beale story with creative inspired vision.
When creating new fiction from old fiction, the possible storylines are unlimited.
All the "different" theories and solutions posted on these Beale threads is evidence of this.

...and still no one has been able to disprove the "all in the Risqué family" references found throughout the Beale Papers that I have presented that influenced the narrative in the dime novel pamphlet, or the purposeful discrepancies that would have been noticed in 1885 Lynchburg that the perilous adventure treasure was just a work of fiction with an added play along parlor game cipher.

Those who were involved with the 1885 BEALE PAPERS:
James Beverly Ward- copyright owner, publisher, most likely the "unknown author"
Harriet Emmaline Otey Ward- wife who was born and raised "4 miles from Buford's"/ niece of Sarah & Robert Morris
John William Sherman- cousin who printed and wrote pamphlet review in THE LYNCHBURG VIRGINIAN
Max Guggenheimer- "old and valued friend" mentioned in the Beale narrative story
Charles W Button- owner of THE LYNCHBURG VIRGINIAN newspaper and Virginia Print Shop

The children of Pascal Buford, who had NO knowledge of Beale's stay at Buford's or of the treasure story:
Rowland D Buford- author of "SKETCHES OF BEDFORD COUNTY" contains NO mention of Beale or the treasure story.
Margaret L Buford-who lived at the Buford estate after the passing of her parents
Ann Buford Hall

One who complained to Rowland Buford about ancestor's name being mentioned in THE BEALE PAPERS:
Vincent A Witcher-CSA Lt Col, 34th Virginia Battalion, during the "Confederate War"

The above list are the only people who knew the truth behind the creation, publishing, advertising, sale and withdrawal from sale of the 1885 BEALE PAPERS.

We can throw what information we have around and around. But we can still not confirm one way or the other whether the story actually happened or not. We need some letter, some diary or anything that mentions the story being made up for sale to make money for a charity or cause. There is none. We know we can not find any factual information to confirm the trip of TJB and his companions out West. Without the trip out West is where all of these different beliefs and text keep coming in to play by different individuals claiming a "SOLVE" Without the proof of anyone going West there is nothing but a "FICTION STORY" left for us to see. I have went over the Spanish Archives of the Southwest during that time frame. No party of thirty white Americans or thirty French trappers ever came to Sante Fe for the Winter in 1817. So with no confirmation of them being in Sante Fe proves that the Beale Story is just that a "STORY" All of these other tangents skewing off from the "Job Print Pamphlet" are unfounded. All of these myths of someone "DECODING" the cipher codes is all unfounded and all the stories of KGC, CSA or anything else is far fetched. So all we have left is a "FICTION STORY" Good Luck ECS. When you come to the end of the story close up the book.

The total lack of "some letter, some diary, or anything that mentions the story" or as you have detailed that mentions a "Thomas J Beale Expedition", or that Rowland D Buford has NO MENTION of the Beale treasure story or the BEALE PAPERS, in his "Sketches OF BEDFORD COUNTY" leads to the obvious conclusion that the BEALE PAPERS job print pamphlet was just a "localized" adventure treasure dime novel, inspired from incidents in the Risqué/Ward extended family bloodline with a play along cipher idea "borrowed" from Poe's THE GOLD BUG, that was only advertised and sold in the "localized" market of Lynchburg, and Campbell and Bedford counties , Virginia.

That Franklin, is the closest anyone will ever come to the "truth" behind the BEALE PAPERS, not that will end the onslaught of future cipher solutions.

...all were contemporaries of the 1885 BEALE PAPERS publishing and sale, some directly involved, others involved after it was placed on sale due to a family name mentioned to create plausibility of the presented narrative.

...but in one way or another, all were involved with the Beale Papers during its first appearance for sale in 1885.
