Here's an off-white stoneware pint master ink. It is debossed CARTER'S INKS. It was recovered locally here in Northcentral Florida.

I like these inks, 'Erdspiegel' -- these are forms I've not before seen.

The cobalt blue bottle -- does it have creases or are the color streaks in untextured glass?

The blue bottle is corrugated inside. If light shines on, it gets this look.
It' not really old; 1940-1950 I think.

What a difference 40 or 50 years made! The black glass, 3-mold master ink on the left dates to about 1850. The cobalt blue master ink on the right dates to about 1900.

Hey Harry...

Some beautiful inks you got there... a couple of very nice "Stoddard" pieces. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Your photography is top notch too. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Here is a nice teal umbrella ink I pulled out of the water up in Maine... as well as a before and after photo of an igloo ink I found out in the local river...

The only two I've found so far, but I really like "Inks". Cool thread, I didn't know there were so many different kinds.

:) Yes sir I see the turtle !! I read your post on the stoddard flask about making a light box.
I want to make one for photographing ancient artifacts. I wonder if it will show the knapping marks?
Nice collections of inkwells all.

Is it really called a turtle? Nice find.
Well, you may prefer "fountain" inkwell; but, I see a resemblance to a turtle. Don't you?

Here's a find of today.A german turtle sold by 'Friba' inks in the 1940/50s
lenght is 11 cm, bakelite cap
a real turtle. ;D
