It could be a chicken waterer.If you had the rest of it and it had small hole one side of it or it could just be a flower pot. It dose not look real old to me

This was found at historic Deerfield at the bottom of a 2 Ft. excavation for a patio next to a early 1700's house. I also eyeballed a clay pipe stem piece but left it. HH
