HORLICK'S MALTED MILK BOTTLE

To set the stage: I know nothing about bottles. Was kayaking looking for spots to metal detect. River is very low. Lot's of bottles, old, new, broken, etc ...
Randomly grabbed a few that looked older to check at home.
One of them is an Horlick's Malted Milk bottle/jar. Has plenty of "bubbles" in the glass. Cleaned up nice. Just wondering approximate year. High level research on the Internet suggest around 1930s. Do you guys concur?
Thanks for your help.

Patrick

HORLICK'S MALTED MILK BOTTLE

Is the lip smooth or does it have a "rough" feel, like someone took sandpaper to it. Is there anything on the bottom such as a number? One more question, what does the bottom line on the jar read?

Long story short... The plant in England was opened around 1905ish, so we know your jar is post 1905. Dependent on whether or not it has a ground lip will place it into 1905-1915ish range. (1915 is just an estimated year when most larger scale glass makers had converted over to machine-made bottles, jars) , or post 1915. My guess is post 1915

Hi Bass,

Yes the lip has the sand paper feel you are refering too. Very minor though

Yes there are 3 digits on the bottom. I attached a picture.

The bottom line reads : SLOUGH, BUCKS., ENGLAND
I attached a picture.

Thanks,

Patrick

I see the seem runs all the way up thru the threads , so Bass is right about the age , but it do's not appear to have a round lip so it may go to the 1920s.
