What we're finding in a huge pit at the Coraopolis Train Station is mostly clay, some wood, and bottles few and far between. Harvested this one yesterday, and cleaned it up. Has an H on the base, but the information I read about makers with that letter doesn't add up necessarily. We're in the Pittsburgh area, and the H, at least on the Glass makers' website, indicates a WH Hamilton, in Pittsburgh until 1898 and then Charleroi until about 1918. I assume this is a whiskey bottle; the H on the bottom is the only marking. Help a brother out!

Maybe one of the Hazel-Atlas companies? Looks like a later blown bottle, around 1910, give or take. Nice one! Looking forward to seeing what else comes out of this pit.

It does not look as primitive as a lot of bottles I've dug.

Looks like there were several "H" markings, but it being hand blown with a tooled top would put it smack dab in the 1898-1918 range.

Sure cleaned up nice!

Common form for a whiskey, seen then in every color of the rainbow and many with seals where your's is blank. Perfect spot for a wax seal to ID if that's what the merchant wanted...
