Hello all, hope this post finds you all well and managing this pandemic stuff. Ugh what a time in the lives of all of us.

Getting back to digging I was lucky enough to come across an older lady that was a sweetheart. I asked her permission to dig on her small vacant property and she said yep, go ahead and have fun. The home dated to 1865 with a smaller home dating to 1890 or a bit older. Probed two pits out and began with what I thought was a decent privy. Started to dig and almost immediately found a blown in mold ketchup. Ugh. Not that I hate ketchups but at least it was tooled.
Got a little deeper and hit some ABM stuff. Some L M Green meds and then some tooled versions. Weird. It was back and forth for about 5 feet.
Decided to re probe again and another pit was right next to this one. Hoping that it was older to at least prove the date of the 1890 home. Got to about 8 feet and started to move through the dirt to the older pit. First bottle was laying right at the bottom. A beautiful W & E Muessel South Bend blob quart in amber. Woooohoooo!!!!!!
Then right by that was a pint White Star Bottling Works blob. Another great one! Not much in the way of any meds but there was some broken JoJo flasks and pumpkinseeds.
We were tiring out as the pit went for about 5 feet back. It was now about 84 degrees out. We were finding some other broken things and a couple crier pints. Kamm & Schellinger and a FW Martin. Dating to the late 1880s.

All the way at the back corner I saw a blob beer sticking out of the upper dirt area of the now cave we dug. The last bottle to come out alive!!! Took about 5 minutes of crazy hard digging and anticipation. But finally it fell out. A bottle that no one around these parts has. The name I’ve never seen either. And most likely misspelled.

Nenry VanLancker & Co. South Bend. Wow. I mean who names their kid Nenry? I assume it should be Henry. But who knows. Can’t find a thing on this guy. What a great day for a dig. Can’t wait to get back out there to try the next pit or find some new ones.

And I am going back to see the older lady and give her a gift card for letting us dig. Gotta love it when folks let ya dig a gigantic hole in their yards! Be safe out there people. great stuff:icon_thumleft:, some times when I dig a dump or a cellar hole, the button and toy are more fun to dig than the bottles, unless there are some real nice bottles
