Anyone know if caches sink, also, what depth?

Pressure, due to weight and displacement, and size of the aggregates the item is resting on make a big difference. if you have a coin on edge it would sink faster than if its laying flat on the ground. It seems like everyone is making good points. Earth tremors could add to the mix. Natural sinking happens, look at liquefaction...like in San Francisco during the big one in early 1900s.
