Sword Identification Help needed

This sword was found in the wall of an old house locally.The owner has offered to sell but I have no ideal where to start.Any suggestions?Thanks!

I agree, it appears to be a Kenansville. Froelich put Roman Numerals on his swords. I have XIX on mine. If you could take one more photo of the sword looking down blade so that you could see the "basket" or hand guard, it would help. The non-stop fuller definitely points toward a Confederate sword.

Was checking to see if the two branches from the knucklebow start from two different spots. They do. I think you have yourself a Kenansville. There is a detailed book, "Louis Froelich, Arms maker to the Confederacy", that goes through the history of the armory and examples of his swords. I know there are fakes out there but all the clues point towards an enlisted man's cavalry sabre. Depending on condition, I have seen them go from $2500-$7500. Officer's swords much higher. The CSA Armory manufactured over 12,000 enlisted men's sabers

After much research I believe this is the real deal,down to the iron wrap on the handle.I did wipe the blade with some gun oil(non acidic) and most of the surface rust came off leaving a nice patina.What is really amazing is how well balanced this sword is.Thanks for the help,Dbull .
