I got this in a cw display and can't find out what it is. I put a thread in what is it but only one bite. He seems to think maybe a flask cap which makes sense looking. Figured I'd ask the civil war guys for an opinion.

Its a lid to a inkwell. Look very close right above the hole in the top and you should see the patent information. I dug one a couple years ago. Mine was ided on the treasure spot. I have another opinion
