I found this the other day in a field.I believe its some kind of women's buckle.Its paper thin and center is a shield.This site was really old.Newest coin was 1859 IH and several Large Cents.

Yea PW, I saw that too . I'm pretty sure it was made that way on purpose. (my opinion).

As for CW era IMO Quite Possible, or Before with all those old coins.
