A Big Rebel Yell, and Salute to Gen Howell and for his service and part in which he fought for his Beloved South during the American War Between the States. Out of the mouth from one who was there and took part in a chapter of one of the darkest periods of our American History. The Toilet Bowl, or Super Bowl referred to as some is being hosted in Atlanta this year at Mercedes Benz stadium. Oh, the excitement from all the politicians and movers and shakers. The NAACP leaders have decided that this is the time to stage a protest to remove ALL the Confederate Monuments in Georgia including the carving on the face of Stone Mountain since the eyes of the world will be on Atlanta. The news media stated that groups would be going door to door in an effort to educate the public on all the Hatred associated with our Confederate monuments. Really? How is this when the truth of this chapter in our American History has Neve been taught in our schools and colleges. From this Southerners point of view, the only real Hatred is the Total Hatred for the South and efforts to totally destroy all things related to the South and our Southern History. Some folks wouldn't know the truth if it reared up and bit them where the sun doesn't shine. If one of these groups knocks on my door, they will most definately be at the wrong address. Thanks for posting this Truth.

When one reads into our Southern History and studies the true cause as to why the Southern States wished to break away or secede from the Union, you have to ask yourself overall what is the one thing the South didn't want that we have today. Answer: Big Government. The Southern states wished to be self governed by their state. Many times captured Confetrit' soldiers were asked by their captors why they were fighting against the Union and many times the answer came back that they were fightin' for their country. Their country that they were speaking of was Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, or any of the 8 remaining Confetrit' states.

AINT GOONA HAPPEN!
We Hope and Pray Not. Common sense, Decency, and a Willingness to teach Our American History in schools vanished long ago and now a lot of our so called politicians and lawmakers will blow whichever way the wind blows in order to keep their positions or seats. Shameful. If one really and Truly wants to talk about folks that have been Racially Profiled, let's talk about White Native Southerners. I dare say that you couldn't find a one monument to the Confederate Soldier or to the cause in any Southern State that has inscribed on the monument that slavery was the cause of the war or that this was why hundreds of thousands of Southern Soldiers died and suffered for. Abraham Lincoln made this a war of emancipation, not the South. To myself, it is Shameful how our ancestors who suffered during this war are portrayed today. Case in point, we have a monument here on our square in town that was shown many times in the show in the Heat of the Night. This monument has stood in our square as hundreds of others have since it was erected just after the turn of the century. Hundreds upon thousands have passed this monument every year and it hasn't seemed to be an issue. This past year someone filed a grievance saying they wanted to have the monument removed, that it was shameful and that it was a reminder of slavery. Who was this that was so suddenly appalled everyone wondered? After doing some research it was learned that this person was a transplant that had moved down south from NJ. I'm not in anyway attacking folks from the north here, I'm saying that this is where the mindset seems to be today. People that seem to know the least about our Southern History and Ancestry seem to scream the most and the loudest.
