How do I stop green patina from eating my brass?

It took me forever to clean this, it was intensly coroded. Is there any way to stop this green from eating it away? I think the disease growing. Thanks for any help.

That's exposure to oxygen IMO.
I would try paste wax or spray lacquer. Lacquer comes in different shades of shiny.
Both are easily removed.

I'm not sure how that would work Broomrider. Do you mean electrolysis?

It's bronze disease and, yes, it will get worse over time. There are ways to stop it safely. I don't know if you are allowed to link to other metal detecting sites on this forum so I will just say that you should google it. There is a very good site out there that deals with this problem.

Renaissance Wax is good, antiques dealers use it, museums etc.
