Question about detecting Mobile city parks

Has anyone tried detecting in any of city parks in Mobile? I was told that the Mobile parks department does not restrict the use of metal detectors, however the city prohibits the destruction of property that may result while digging up an object. (I've yet to find a way to get an old coin out of the ground without some digging) There may also be laws prohibiting the removal of historic artifacts.

I'm not interested in specifics as to which park (unless it deals with safety), but I'd like to know what experience other detectorists have had with park officals and artifacts.

best advice for these parks, don't hunt alone and keep your eyes on whats going on around you.
