The past couple of weeks have been a bit slow so I hadn't posted those finds. This week didn't appear that it was going to be much better. I picked up 2 bags of dimes and 10 bags of cents. Only 5 silver Roosies and 1 silver Canadian dime. I was hoping to get at least 165 wheats in order to get over the 1,000 mark for the year. I had gotten through 5 of the bags and it was looking ok for getting my goal (I average about 15 wheats per bag.
So then I get a call from the teller at a small bank. They do very little coin, but when a bag of anything fills up they call me. The teller said that a customer had brought in 3 buckets of cents to dump and they had 5 bags for me. Of course I immediately headed that way and picked them up. Since they use the clear plastic bags, I could tell immediately that 3 of the bags had lots of wheat cents.
There were quite a few early dates, but only 1 Indian. That 1 Indian was a good one though 1867!!! There was also a 1985S proof cent.
