True these coins may have the lowest mintages in decades, but in comparison to mintages that are considered key or semi-key they are fairly high. The Denver nickel has the lowest mintage of 33.4 million, but the keys of the same series are all under 10 million, less than one third of today's numbers. They may be hard to find but I doubt they will have any real value beyond face, once the hype dies down.

But I did see some encouraging news in that article. It said that people are cashing in their loose change. Some of these "hoards" may have been sitting around for years or maybe longer. This will definitely cause more older coins to be dumped back into circulation. In the past couple weeks, I have pulled nearly 1900 wheats from handwrapped rolls. Granted most of it came from one big find, but I have seen my memorial to wheat ratio of 300:1 improve significantly. I'm looking forward to see what this does to my silver finds. I hope this keeps up.
