From my understanding its not a crime to deface currency (write, mark, ect) unless it is done with intent to defraud.

You are probably right as WHERESGEORGE is still out and about in the free world. If he wants to play Sherlock Holmes I've got enough marked coins to keep him busy for the rest of his life.

I am working with the person who added the 1 to the coins, even as we speak:-) He fessed up:-) and he has the proof that he was the culprit!

The ones I see in the PNW have what appears to be Machinists Dye (Dyekem, prussian blue die or faded sharpie) between the 7 and 4 (as shown), hundreds if not thousands of them...
