My wife picked up some machine rolled halves from a bank for me to go through. I opened the first roll and they were all nice and shiny and each one was a 2001-P. That got me to dive into the Red Book. If I read it correctly, the 2001-P coin was not meant for circulation. I have 37 rolls of 2001-Ps that as far as I can tell have never been opened.
Did I luck out with an unusual find or this just some anomaly that happens from time to time?
I am new to CRH so help would be appreciated. Thanks...Jim

Hi Jim.
I'm afraid that is one of the misprints the Redbook has failed to correct over the years. The nifcs are usually around 3 million or less each year, yet the 2001 has a mintage of over 21 million. Not very hard to come by. You may still be able to sell whole rolls for a premium.

I do not keep nifc, just some conmrmoratives and "s" mint.

I have found lots of 2001, 2002, 2003, etc. I just dump them back.

I'm pretty sure the 2001 coins are not NIFC, 2002 and on are though
