Today I went by my local convience store to make a purchase. As I have been a patron of this establishment for quite a while, I felt comfortable about asking the cashier if he ever had 50 cent pieces come across his counter. He said "yes, all the time." I told him that I saved those 50 cent pieces and would he mind selling those to me when he got them. He said, "sure--no problem," and the next time I was in he would have a bundle for me. He said "no one ever wants them." Then, he proceeded to open his wallet and showed me a coin he had received in change today. It was a 2003 Walker Dollar. I had never seen one before (let along known they were made). The reverse said "silver." What is this coin? I had never seen one before. I tried to look for a mint mark, and could not find one.

If it was larger than a walking lib half dollar it was a .999 fine silver eagle from the US mint.
