I have been searching nickle rolls for about a year and a half. I do not buy boxes, I just trade in my searched rolls for new ones, usually about ten rolls at a time about $100 a week. My job takes me all around the state of MI and OH, working in a lot of different towns. I often search the rolls in my car during the day, like when waiting to pick my kids up at school, when I get to a job a little early etc. When I finish with the ten rolls I will stop at a bank and trade them in for ten more. I was working near Cleavland a few weeks ago and hit it big with customer rolled nickles. This time I traded in 12 rolls. I often ask the teller for paper rolls instead of the plastic ones. She gave me 10 paper and 2 plastic. Two of the rolls caught my eye as they looked different from the ones I often see.

When I got to my car one of the rolls had written on it, "Nickles 1940 -1964" I was on my way home it was a 2 and1/2 hour ride. As I was driving I was getting curious about the roll. I dumped them in my cup holder and picked a few up. They were all from the 40's, one was a silver war nickle. When I got home I searched the other paper rolls. The other odd looking roll was all pre 1960. After searching all the paper rolls I ended up with approx 100 pre 1950. I did not search the plastic rolls until two days later at my sons basket ball practice. In that roll was a 1901 V nickel :hello2: and a war nickle. I do not think the plastic ones were customer rolled Of all the pre 1960 nickles I found I only 2 needed to for my collection.

here are the results
1901 V Nickle, this came from a plastic wrapped roll.

Great pickups on the nickels. Have been seeing an amazing amount of V's being found lately. Still waiting on my first of 2010.
