Small date? Large Date? .........How do you tell the difference?

It depends on what denomination/year you are refering to. Are you talking about the 1982 cents? Or something else?

On the 1960, the top of the 9 is higher than the top of the 1 for the large date. Its lower than the 1 for the small date.

On the 1970S, the 7 is lower than the 0 for the large date. It is even with the 0 on the small date.

Radio Shack makes a good little pocket microscope for checking out details, costs about 15 bucks and has a built in light. goes from 60 to 100 times magnification. Kindof a bugger to check alot of coins with, tho.

A regular 10x magnifying glass under a good light works pretty good for me.

Its just the shadows from the scanner- see- You do too have good eyes.. ;D

The coins are all red MS, except the 1960 small has a little toning, they reflect the light.
