Can you post a pic of your coin? Can you accurately weigh your coin?

Officially there was no silver halfs minted in 1972. Even proof issues were Copper-Nickel

No you did not. No Kennedy silver halves of any kind were minted in 1972 by the US mint.

Sorry, but maybe the rim only looks like it has some silver in it.

Thanks. It has the pink, clang, and sheen of a 40%. In fact, it was the only obvious ender in 4 boxes. :icon_scratch:

Maybe it is one of those "magic halves" (where one side comes off to reveal a smaller coin inside). I have found a few of these by sound in that they have a hollow sort of ring when clanked against a regular half. It is not exactly like a silver coin, but it is different enough from a regular half that it will catch your attention sometimes.

A few were struck in silver clad by mistake, but only 1971-d and 1977-d are known to exist.

If it were me, I would take it to a professional to look at it. You never know.
