While coin roll hunting I came across two cameo JFKs and several 2001-2010 which were not meant for circulation, unfortunatly they are now "circulated" I only need a 2004d and a 2005 P to complete my collection as well as the elusive 1987 P and D. Has anyone actually found the 87s?
Amazingly I have tons of 40% in every year except 1970, is this a tough find?

Yes. They are out there. Found my first (and only) 1970-S last year. Several of the 1987s. Keep looking. :icon_sunny:

Glad you pointed that out! I was gonna brag about having a full roll of 2001 soon. Hehe I was also not aware that the 1970 was NIFC, makes the hunt more fun!

By those numbers it looks as though the best shot is an 1987 s!
Any idea the numbers on cameos? I got a 84s and 04 s

I've got some extra NIFC and one extra 1987 - just found it yesterday, I don't remember what mint(P or D). If you want to trade to get your collection closer to complete just send me a PM. I only need the 1970d to finish my JFK set, looking forward to finding that one some day. First '87 I found was the 87S so that was pretty cool :)

PM sent. What does anyone do with toned coins? I got some that seem overboard. I think some may be practicing for nefariuos deeds.

My first box had 10 NIFC 1987 P's and 2000 P's in one roll.

I almost put the 87's back but then I asked about them here

I am missing: 1965, 1970, 2004D, 2008PD, 2009D, 2011PD

Oh and any S-mint... One day

The 1970 and 1987 P and D coins were issued only in mint sets (unlike the 2002-present NIFC coins, which you can buy ni rolls or bags from the mint), and the S coins of each year were only in proof sets. While I have gotten 4 S-mints over the last year or so (all clad), I think that those are generally more rare to find in rolls as it is necessary for someone to break open a proof set. Curiously, I've never come across proofs of any other denomination in change or roll hunting - so where are those coins going?

I haven't found any 1970 coins, and only 1 1987 (can't remember if P or D, doesn't much matter). I have about 50 of the more recent NIFC coins, and hope to someday sell them on Ebay (hopefully as a group, less of a PITA).

Slightly different topic - I also have (to date) 41 of the 2009 nickels (all D mint, I'm in Texas). Lowest mintage for a general circulation nickel since the late 1950s Philadelphia coins. They are already worth more as metal than as currency, and maybe they'll be worth more as a semi-rare collector's piece - in any case, I'm only invested to the tune of $0.05 a piece, and I'm surely not losing much in the way of interest at these rates.

I found 1 1970D after a year of searching. Bought a 1987 D and P on here, then in the next few months found literally rolls of them. They must have all come to MS. I kept a few and practiced catch and release with the rest.
